WHO TO WATCH

Matt Brown, South View hurdler

Why: The senior finished third in the 300-meter dash at the indoor state meet this year, covering the distance in 35.41 seconds.

Chase Christianson, Terry Sanford distance runner

Why: The senior is looking to build off a strong cross country season after finishing seventh (9:50.28) in the 3,200 at the outdoor state meet last year.

Michael Moore, South View hurdler

Why: He finished eighth at the outdoor state meet in the 110 hurdles (15.06) last year and second in the 55 hurdles (7.77) at this year's indoor state meet.

Shaquille Ray, Scotland jumper/sprinter

Why: The senior had a big day at the indoor state meet this year, taking second in the 55 (6.54), third in the long jump (22 feet, 9 inches) and fourth in the triple jump (44-11).

Eric Winfrey, Douglas Byrd sprinter

Why: As a sophomore last year, Winfrey was second in the 200 (21.96) and he won the 400 (47.77) at the outdoor state meet.

WHO TO WATCH

Chante' Bell, Westover high jumper

Why: Cumberland County's leading scorer on the basketball court, the senior will try to match qualifying for the outdoor state meet last year in the 300-meter hurdles, the high jump and the triple jump.

Carthenia Brown, Lumberton thrower

Why: She placed fifth as a freshman in the shot at the outdoor state meet with a mark of 37-7 3/4inches last year, beating out teammate Nicole Chavis, who was seventh (34-11).

Hannah Hensly, Pinecrest jumper

Why: The freshman burst onto the scene at the indoor state meet this year, taking second in the high jump (5-4) and second in the long jump (17-6 1/2).

Sanura Eley O'Reilly Jack Britt middle-distance runner

Why: The senior is the reigning state outdoor champion in the 400 (54.07 seconds), and has already signed with South Carolina.

Lexie Schustrom, Pinecrest distance runner

Why: After finishing second in the 3,200 (11:18.15) at the outdoor state meet last year, the senior won the indoor state championship in the 3,200 (11:10.25) this year.
