Cumberland County football coaches make their Super Bowl predictions

Richard Bailey

Jack Britt

"I say the Colts win. I just think they play a little more defense. Both are great offenses. The Colts are used to the hoopla. There's going to be a lot of pressure on New Orleans. They are trying to win one for the city, and that's a lot to do sometimes."

Score: Colts 31, Saints 27

Russell Stone
Douglas Byrd

"Indianapolis, because of Peyton Manning, and I think the defense is a lot better than the Saints. The Vikings went up and down the field on them.''

Score: Colts 37, Saints 24

Bobby Bennett
Cape Fear

"I've got to pick the Colts just because I like the nickname, and I like the helmet decal and Peyton Manning. It's hard to pick against the Colts. If it was anybody other than Peyton Manning, I'd pick Drew Brees."

Score: Colts 31, Saints 24

David Lovette
Gray's Creek

"Probably the Colts. Just because of Peyton Manning.''

Score: Colts 34, Saints 17

Bill Sochovka
Pine Forest

"I like the Saints. I think they are a little too explosive for the Colts. I'd like to see the Saints win. I'm going for the guy that's never been there before. I think it will come down to two things, who can establish a running game, and defense.''

Score: Saints 42, Colts 35

Terry Sanford
Wayne Inman

"Indianapolis should win. They've been there before and they know how to handle the Super Bowl. The big thing is they've done this all year. If the other team scored first, it didn't phase them. When they played Miami, Miami ran the ball up and down the field, controlled the clock and they still found a way to win. The Colts have the better team."

Score: Colts 27, Saints 17

Bob Paroli

Seventy-First

"The Indianapolis Colts, and the reason is Peyton Manning. I think Peyton Manning might be the brightest, most efficient quarterback that has played in the NFL in my recent memory. He seems like he always has a grasp of what is going on. There's a Mississippi gambler in him, but he doesn't take it to an extreme. It seems like he knows what he's going to do the minute he steps on the field. I've always been a great admirer of Drew Brees since he was in college. I think he too ranks among the best. But something about Manning separates him from the rest.''

Score: Colts 27, Saints 20

John McDonald
Westover

"I like the Colts. They are very aggressive on offense.''

Score: Colts 28, Saints 21

Randy Ledford

South View

"I'd really like to see both of them win, but that can't happen. I think the Saints will. It's something new for them. Sometimes that can be an advantage or a disadvantage. I thought in the first playoff game, they played better than anybody. Last week they did what it took to get it. I think they are pretty evenly matched. They seem to have a little more desire. I just hope it's a good game. Sometimes the game isn't as good as some of the playoff games.''

Score: Saints 28, Colts 17

Duran McLaurin
E.E. Smith

"The Colts. Peyton Manning has Super Bowl experience. Although the Saints are having a great season, I feel many of their players don't have Super Bowl experience. I think it will be a bit overwhelming. Peyton Manning and his bunch have been there before. They understand what it takes to focus and concentrate on the game.''

Score: Colts 34, Saints 31
